I made the Improv Tote from MSQC's Mod Block magazine with the In-R-Form Plus and loved it. The directions from that read "Lay the 'second' piece RST on the 'first' and stitch them together through the 2 layers of fabric and foam interfacing. Using only the tip of the iron, tack the fabric open to expose the right sides of both pieces. . . . When entire foam triangle is covered in fabric, give your patchwork a good press to fuse the fabrics to the foam." I didn't have to change the tension on my machine and didn't have an issue with the stitches showing. Hope this helps.
