I like El Burns method for 8 at a time using two large squares. 6 in for 2 1/2 in squares. 8 in for 3 1/2.
draw an x on stacked squares right sides facing each other and sew on both sides of lines. Cut in half both ways then on lines and you have 8 HST that need just a small bit of squaring up.
