Go ahead and wash it. To hang it, just sew a tube of fabric the same width as the quilt, and turn under the raw edges of the tube. Then hand stitch it to the back being careful not to catch more than the back layer in your stitching. Then all you have to do is run a curtain rod or stick through that pocket. Be sure that the rod is longer than the width of the quilt so that there is room to tie a cord to each end of the rod if you are going to do that
