Hey, that Bernina from the 60's is one of the best machines ever made... especially if it's the 830 Record! They last forever and can do everything. I have one too.
A nice huge cutting mat and 6 x 24" ruler, plus a good rotary cutter with some extra blades would make an awesome gift.
Good steel scissors by either Mundial or Gingher are quite a treat, too. Look for the ones made in Italy.
Any kind of storage for fabric pieces is great... I use little cabinets with drawers, but if you live near an Ikea there may be much classier ones to choose from.
