This is a heartwarming story that says why we quilt....enjoy and have a blessed Christmas!!
So my daughter is 11 years old right now but when she was 4 she fell at a store ( by no fault of theirs) and got a concussion. She spent some time in the hospital because of it. So there is the back story. Well while in the hospital she was given a quilt that had been donated. She has had that quilt on her bed ever since. She outgrew it a few years ago but I am not allowed to touch it since I figured I would make it bigger for her but she refuses. Which is fine she hugs it when she is sleeping every night. Well yesterday she came out of her room freaking out. She was laying on it on the floor making bracelets and she twisted and heard it rip. It had a 15 inch rip in it. I had to draw a picture of how I planned on fixing it before I could start. So didn't want it altered in any way. So watched the whole time. In the process I asked her what makes this so special?? I have made you multiple quilts and you don't even know who made this.. Well what she said would make anyone who as ever donated a quilt feel good. She said I remember I was so scared. I got lots of shots and the machines were long and scary (MRI or ct scan I can't remember which) and she said that was the only thing that made her feel better. It smelled good and made her warm. So someone made it with love and it needs to stay the way the person made it. I will never ask her to do anything with it again. I just thought you all would like this story since it made me feel good. :-)
