Right on with the suggestion! I made one similar to that. I cut my rectangle of the bottom fabric first to the size that I wanted it, and curved the edge. Then figured out how big I wanted the smaller insert, then also curved that edge. I stitched the center piece on. I cut 2-1/5 strips on the bias, folded them in half and put the raw edge of the binding on the raw edge of the top fabric. Ironed it over so the stitching was covered, and top stitched it down. It looks like a lot of work, but it was very easy to do.
