You need to make sure that the machine will work with the frame you buy. If you purchase new, the manufacturer will normally have a list of compatible machines or you can contact the manufacturer and double check. Also there are at least 2 types of feet that are commonly used for FMQ: a hopping foot and a darning-type foot. Many folks use domestic machines on a frame, but be aware that you may be working with an area as small as 4" as the quilt is rolled.
