I'll repeat my 'advice'. Your batting is the rule you need to follow. It will tell you the max distance apart your quilting lines should be. A quilt that will be used a lot needs to be quilted a little closer than the max. Remember to measure in all directions including the diagonal.
You can outline the designs, then add a bit of accent quilting in the design. you also need some quilting in the block around the applique as I am not aware of any batting that will support an unquilted area of 12.5".
