Paper piecing is the only way to go if you want sharp points. I also like the fact that all I have to do is cut strips of fabric the width I need for each section, instead of cutting exact shapes. You cut the extra off the strip, after you press the new piece you just sewed on. I do press each piece w/ an iron instead of finger pressing.
