Jan, I just added a seam around the outside top two sides of the big triangle, then cut it down the middle, then cut a slice on the diagonal starting 1/4" in from the outside tip of the basket on both sides. Then I cut a 1" strip for the handle and sewed it into the split new triangles to piece them back together again. Then sewed the new triangles back into the size of the original big triangle -- and so there it was! I didn't applique it, you'll see the seams if you look closely at the picture. What a lovely selection of fabric for yours! Looks like autumn.
