This is what I learned also. I was over watering my orchids and could never keep one. I finally saw my new dentist had them in her practise and she said she just leaves them alone and waters them when she thinks of it and they all were in full blossom. They need very little fussing. I have since read that instead of watering , place five or six icecubes around the top of the soil and just let it melt. I do this as needed. I have now had my orchid for three years. I also never move it from where it sits.
