I also use the cardboard that comes under a 24 pack of water. These are usually a bit higher than pizza boxes and they don't have a lid, but work wonderfully well to stack, etc., when working on a quilt. Also, there is enough room for lots of fabric, plus a space for blocks. If you're using a pattern, it can lie on top and sort of help to keep the fabric clean.
