Elle, IMHO, you will be fine with minimal quilting in the pieced blocks, but you might want to do just a little stitch in the ditch so the entire block won't be so loose...know what I mean?
Klue...sorry about your DH having to go through the tests..but its best to do that rather than the other option...which is Elle's husband.. :(
