I alternate the direction that I sew and that helps a lot. To help me remember which direction to sew I always put a pin the the end I've just finished that way I know where to start the next one. This allows me to have some interruptions in my work and still remember. All I have to do it seems is to set something down and then wonder what is what when I pick it up again.
