LOVE my Brother machine it has been dependable . They seen to have a good reputation! My Grand daughter has a mini Janome gem but she is now 14 so needs something bigger. I think it is a good idea to go with a full size machine and if it is not a vintage one Brothers seem to do well make sure she knows how to clean it of dust bunnies!
