Hehehe---you're one of us now, it's all over, you've been bitten. Just wait until you make your first rescue, there's no going back after that! I have a 6600 too and it's a great machine and I still use it the most at home, but there is something very satisfying to using older machines. They have so much personality. When I go on vacation, I almost always take a vintage machine along with me!

This 403 is a good vacation candidate - not as heavy as the iron ladies!

I've gotten her all cleaned up, lubed up...she's in great shape, I'm really happy! A little tension twiddling and she's making lovely stitches. I had her open and was showing my DH how the direct drive works and he actually got interested! He said it was "impressive" and "they sure don't make them like that anymore". I'll make a sewing machine nerd out of him some day, LOL.

I wish the vintage trapezoid cases weren't so expensive. I have one that a few machines share, it'd be nice if I had a case for each. I've seen repro Featherweight cases, but not the trapezoids. Someone should make those, I bet there's a pretty good market for them if they were well made and looked good!
