It reminds me of "Scrap Crystals" by Bonnie Hunter.
Bonnie's quilt does look very similar-I think we have decided this block is an old block, called Snow Crystals....from 1920. Bonnie mentions using broken dish blocks in her construction, but it still boils down to sewing all 64 squares together....so I will just keep plugging along!
