Our nephew's girlfriend sent this cake (baked in a shallow breadpan that looks like the pan was cut in half so if both halves were there you'd have a long, round loaf) with him for Christmas. The cake wasn't outstanding looking at all and went un-eaten and un-tried til later Christmas night but when it was sampled we were amazed at how wonderful it is. I think about 10 members of the family wanted the recipe. It's just delicious!

Spray the pan with cooking spray.

Before pouring batter into the pan, sprinkle sliced almonds on the bottom of the pan.

BEAT WELL:
1 1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 1/2 tsp. Pure Almond Extract
2/3 Cup Milk

ADD:
1 1/4 Cup Flour
1/ 2 tsp. Baking Powder

ADD:
1 Stick melted -Butter or Margarine (Girlfriend used margarine)

MIX WELL
Bake 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Edges must be golden brown. COOL IN THE PAN before removing from the pan. Cake will break if removed too soon.

SPRINKLE with powdered sugar

Enjoy!
