QuiltnLady1, I tried to get to John Flynn's site but it kept taking me to some site that claimed John Flynn Quilting but it didn't have anything to do with quilting that I could see. Tried the other sites too but I didn't see the formula. Will continue to search though so thanks for the idea. I remember seeing something similar for making bias binding using a diagonal seam. Seemed confusing to me till I kept reading the instructions and looking at the pics.
