PurplePassion: The one pan is about 100 years old...I think it belonged to my grandmother. My mom gave it to me years and years ago. It's narrower but LONGER than a regular bread pan. The other pan, a half circle pan is fairly new. I think I picked it up at a Dept. Store of some kind probably 10 years ago. I still see that pan on sale here and there.
YES! I think you can use a regular bread pan but remember, this makes a small cake. Yesterday when I baked these cakes I doubled the recipe to get 2 loaves so if you use a bread pan make sure it's a standard size, NOT the extra big ones (my mom has the LARGE family-sized loaf pans that would be way too big for this cake). I think the larger Aluminum Foil bread pans that you buy 3 or 4 to a package at the Dollar Store would be the perfect size...REMEMBER TO COOL THE CAKE IN THE PAN BEFORE REMOVING IT FROM THE PAN. I tried to rush the cooling so I could send a loaf home with a friend and it broke up pretty bad but my friend was thrilled...she said "the chunks were just the right size to snack on in the car on her way home from work!"
