Definitely experiment first with doorstops or whatever else you can find to tilt your machine. I tried a tilt years ago but discovered it interfered too much with my line of vision to the needle. Plus it did not help my neck and shoulders (although it does help some people).

What is your setup like? You may be sitting too high. I find that lowering my chair so that my elbows are not higher than the surface of the machine helps greatly.
