I should have had a poster of this and put it on my sewing room door when my kids were growing up! But my method in those days was to inform them that the color of the day (the thread that was already threaded on my sewing machine) was red (blue, yellow, etc.) and if they had anything red that needed mending, bring it to me now. ;-)) Oh my.
