My mom called today and told me my dad is going over to his brother's on Monday to get the rest of the quilts. She rarely prompts my dad like this, but when she saw the picture of the quilt and heard the story, she got really upset. I guess she really berated my dad for even thinking about using the quilt as a junk blanket. She said my great grandmother made this quilt several years go. (She was really close to my dad's mom and grandma.) The quilt was made in early 70s or late 60s. That makes it all the more precious. My great grandmother died when I was a little girl from surgery complications and I hardly remember her. I can tell from the lack of wear and tear on this quilt that my grandmother must have thought it very special because she didn't use it. (She used things she didn't care much about and saved all the things she did.)
