i have only played with this but hope it helps until someone with more experience can answer.
you can work on your grid on the quilt layout tab.
i worked on my image
saved image to sketchbook
opened quilt worktable
opened sketchbook/iphotos
from the edit button i selected quilt worktable
in the layouts tab i adjusted the grid
