The corduroy was 100% cotton and yes, I did wash & dry it before using it.

I have a long arm so no it wasn't a problem. I think you could quilt it on a domestic machine, especially with the straight line continuous quilt pattern I used. You would just use a walking foot. It actually doesn't seem to add much thickness, but more weight, so I would limit it to a throw size. I bound it by bringing the backing around to the front. I used a walking foot, but my domestic machine had no problem sewing thru all the layers.
I also used Warm & Natural batting.
Another added bonus was it was almost 60" wide, so for throws, no seams!
