Honey Bee!!!

http://www.quilterscache.com/H/HoneyBeeBlock.html

Bree, she is doing like a barn quilt and going to paint one to mount on her bee hives. At least I hope. I don't think I would recommend painting directly on the hive. I think the smell of the paint might make the bees unhappy. Also if you have a box that you need to eliminate from the hive for any reason or move around you will lose your quilt block. I think painting it on a separate surface and leaning against the hive or putting some sort of mount on the hive to hold it would be best. It can't be permanently mounted because you need to get into the lower boxes to inspect them. Also as the season progresses you will want to put a queen excluder in and add more boxes of frames as the hive grows.

I have bee hives too. Or I should say my DH does. He is the beekeeper, I just take advantage of the honey, wax and the yummy bee air. :-)
