Default He said he wanted a combine quilt...

I've made twin sized quilts for my children when they reached the ages of 10-12, and my youngest is now 10. We are dairy farmers, and he LOVES to be at the farm with his daddy, so it was not a great surprise when he requested his quilt be a "combine quilt". That left me with the challenge of the quilt. After a while, I found a pattern for an Irish Chain variation that solved my problem. I used the central blocks with the John Deere material I found, utilized green, yellow and black in the chains, and went from there. I did have fun getting creative with the border. I appliqued tire tracks around the border, then used yellow rick rack to create movement on top of these. I appliqued two tractors and one combine at the ends of the rick rack. Then, to complete the theme, I made him a pillowcase. I actually had much more fun and think it's much cuter than I envisioned it would be. Thanks for looking!
