I agree that generic feet really don't work well. But there was a time before Bernina had made 1/4" foot since they were late in making one. The woman known as the Purple lady is well know for her Little Foot and Big Foot.

I still own the little foot (did purchase the Bernina adapter foot) that I bought before Bernina produced the #37 foot. It has an 1/8" seam allowance on the left side which I use sewing down the flap on pillowcases.
