Have you looked at the excellent tutorial at this site?
I am not great at paper piecing, but this tute really is good for taking you through step by step. Just take your time and keep holding your work up to the light to make sure your fabric will cover the area you need it to, and you will be fine. If I can do it, you can do it. You sew girl! :)
