The best way to make sure you get credit is to put your information directly on the quilt. I have done labels on the back by writing with a permanent marker directly on the backing fabric. The only way someone could remove it is to cut it out or cover it with a patch etc.
In the the late 80s I was a part of a statewide documentation in Maryland of mostly old quilts. Having the information about the maker either on or with the quilt made them much more valueable. Quilts have been a valueable part of women's history in this country.
