A similar thing happened to me. I washed a quilt I had just made for my mother and didn't notice the red had bled onto the white. Threw it into the dryer and then found the spots. Someone here told me to throw it back into the wash with another color catcher and sure enough it came out this time. I was sure it was a goner since I'd thrown it into the dryer but those color catchers are great.
