I've made button holes with out using a buttonholer. Just mark where you want the hole, sew down one side go across, up the other and again. Then cut down the center. You could also just attach a loop to the top point.

Cute idea ......not have to search for car keys again! But I wonder if it will lay flat on the door...seems there is less width from doorknob to edge of door than this bag....but I'll try one just to see......wonder if I can bypass my buttonholed....never used it!
