I purchased a used Brother 1034D for very cheap. I was fortunate that a LQS was offering classes at a low price. Best advice in that class was write down what settings (on all threads) you have for any given desired results. I.E. napkin edge, etc. and everything along the way. That way, you have a clue as to where you started and where you achieved the results you wanted.
