I started with an 11x13... then you sub cut...3", 2 14/, 1 1/2 and leave the rest around 6+ inches... then mix up the blocks , keeping 6 in and 1 1/2 in the same.... then just rearrange to your choice. When I didn't have a large enough piece I just cut strips 11x what ever I needed. As long as you have two outsides the same doesn't matter... I love this pattern, goes together so nicely... Went to the site and she has a lot of free patterns, like her little basket. Thank you for giving the info about your block size. The block can be an ongoing process when making other projects. Make some from scraps of each quilt until we have enough to put into a charity quilt.
