Sorry you are dealing with this. The bobbin in my machine does not require that those tails be held when I start a new bobbin. But when I cut threads 'mid bobbin' I always hand on to my tails! Probably just a left over from early days of sewing with vintage machines but I've been fortunate that I don't normally have those issues as a result.
