When I was young, I found a very cheap bolt of muslin and made curtains for an apt. Just curtains, not drapes. I mention the age, because I laid out each curtain and used stencils to add a pattern in colors for each room.
I remember that project fondly, it was early days in our relationship, and we did not have money to spend on anything fancy, and I was so proud of those curtains.
However, they did not wash well, so did not survive the move. It was a lot of crawling on the floor to do the stencils. Last time we needed curtains we went to Ikea, had meatballs and laughed about our more mature version of curtain creation. Another fond memory, but a lot less work!
