What a wonderful quilt! You did great picking out interesting fabric and colors.
I think your measurements are fine. When I make a baby quilt I try to make it large enough so a toddler can enjoy it too. With my kids they kept their quilts for a long time so a larger one works best.
I thought my son was going to take his to college!
