I "defaulted" to this for crosshatching my first quilt. Solely because I couldn't sew a straight line! I love and still use it for lots of quilts.
I posted this quilt a couple of years ago. I really like the serpentine stitch, not just for the appearance, but also because it is more forgiving than just a straight stitch. I have a Janome 7700 and this is Utility Stitch #19.
