I also press the binding on the front and press down on the back. I have used the binder clips and hair clips and like them both. I recently tried a friend's tip. She uses two clothespin to first sew down the four corners (one on each side of the curve). Then she uses just one clothespin about 12" in front of where she is sewing. If you have pressed the binding it works very well! I have always had a problem with the 4 corners looking good and this helped me tremendously.
