Got a link from a blog I visited today & found out that my favorite brand of needles, Schmetz, makes titanium topstitch needles, too. For some reason, they call them "Gold Embroidery" needles.
But it seems to be the same thing as the Organ needles -- elongated eye, wider shank, slightly rounded tip, titanium coated. JAF sells them in sizes 75/11 and 90/14. I'm almost out of needles as it is, so I think I'll try to order a couple packs of these to give them a try. Partly I'm always a sucker for the underdog, but I've also had a lot of positive experiences with Schmetz needles over the 25+ years that I've been sewing & quilting and I trust them to make a quality needle.

Just thought I'd share my "find" with other JAF shoppers. Can't beat 50% off a pack of needles that already only costs $6.99 (that's $3.50!!!) and will last for 3-8x as long! I was challenged by an online "friend" to do a stitch sampler with a few different types of needles and think that will be my project for Memorial Day weekend. So many different opinions out there about what type of needle is the "best" for quilting, it would be good to investigate for myself.
