When mine are stained or dirty looking from the fabric I put them in the washing machine with any light colored items and wash.. They come out much cleaner..I do not put them in the dryer! Love mine, been using them for years. I too like them a little snug and always have a second pair if needed. Local quilt stores near me carry them for around 8$
