3 yards of fabric is 108 inches....divide that into 10 inch strips. You will get less than 11 strips (wof)....now divide those 10 inch strips into 10 inch blocks....only 4 from each strip!! You need more than 3 yards to get what you need...6 1/2 or 7 yards for miss cutting. If it were me, I'd just order the 10 inch squares from Missouri Star....3 packs of 40 per pack. You'll have left overs but can always so something with them.
I agree totally. You should get 7 yds of fabric if you are going to cut the squares. I would also get layer cake pkgs. Just the thought of washing, ironing & cutting all that yardage will take a lot of time that you could be sewing. Of course I rarely prewash my fabric. The quilt gets washed when it is finished.
