Default Lesson Learned/Remembered

I posted the other day about stretching my comfort zone, and today I'm making a Carpenter's Wheel block for a pillow front. (I've loved the look of this block, but a number of pieces so it's been sitting on "the List" for a while.) I even drew it up on graph paper & used colored pencils to get my controlled scrappy choices in just the right spots. I'm following Deb Tucker's Country Fair pattern (Fon's & Porter's Love of Quilting mag. Nov/Dec 2015) and using 2 of her rulers I have; I like her approach to piecing certain blocks. Got my 8 flying geese done, trimmed them up to the perfect size, EXCEPT I forgot the seam allowances and trimmed them to finished size! In my head I hear my Mom saying "well you need to go to your room to think about this and slap some sense into yourself". Making 8 more flying geese tomorrow...
