I know you have solved your shredding/skipping problems. For next time, also consider a larger needle. The torque put on the needle as you push the fabric around really puts alot of tension on the needle. The larger needles helps. Needle holes might be more visible to start with, but they will relax. I started quilting on a Juki TL98Q and my dealer's helper kept trying to sell me a machine quilting needle for a smaller machine. I didn't have much success till I went to a jeans or top stitch needle in 16 or sometimes 18. Just an idea for your trouble shooting repetoire!
