The ads say that it is easy to match up the notches and registration lines, but there is a review here that disparages the kit this user received -

Sewing patterns use notches to align the pieces, and that worked out fine. I think the key would be in whether the kit was prepared exactly to specifications, and whether the fabric was high quality.
