I'm seeing a lot of other members not mention a walking foot & it caused me to remember that some machines have a Dual Feed function & don't need a special foot to do straight line quilting. You'll want to check your machine to see if you need one of those or not.
As far as the 1/4" foot (or piecing foot), if you have one, that's great. I do now & it's definitely handy, but I started off without one & did just fine. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there when you're ready for them (or a class can teach you) about how to measure 1/4" from your needle & just put a stack of 4-5 post-its down as your 1/4" guide for your fabric. There are enough other little things to invest in without having to spend money on one of those, too before you even make one quilt.
