I believe the designer deserves to be paid for the inspiration and mental labor they have put into making the pattern for us. If you look at the amount you would pay for a dinner out or just to go see a movie or have your toenails painted (not criticism, just an example), why can you not spend a few dollars for something that will give you hours (days?) of pleasure and produce something beautiful ?!
