Here's a link that might help with getting that kink out of your fabric. Go to the 12:30 mark in the tutorial to see her method. I would highly recommend that you watch the entire video, as she has a lot of information packed into it.

The woman in this tutorial was my teacher for my very first Learn to Quilt class. She is also the president of the West Michigan Quilter's Guild which has over 400 members. The pattern we made in her class is the quilt you see in the background in the video. Beautiful quilt, with just about every quilt technique you can think of. She is an amazing teacher, and she and several other people from our guild have started this new series on quilting on YouTube. You might want to subscribe to their channel, OnPoint. Many of the lessons are the same for the class that I took. If you watch them in order you will see that she starts with some very basic beginner lessons, and builds from there. They have been a nice review for me.
