Have you tried "drawing" a design with a friction pen, and then, with SLOW stitching, following those lines to quilt? I absolutely cannot do FMQ no smooth easy lines here....but I can draw, iron to erase and re-draw with the friction pens until I get something I can either like or live with, and then I follow the lines with my dsm..........the end result is really pretty nice. You can even trace outlines of pictures/shapes to fill "white spaces" and with the friction pens, if you do not like all or part of it, you just iron it to remove the lines, and then re-do.......almost like coloring without the permanency.............Have fun...quilt is beautiful............Since it is "chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry" in color, you could name it NEOPOLITAN...............
