I do this and it works great.It's the fumes that losen the greasy stuff. I used to scrape my burners now I just put them in a 2 gallon zip lock bag with 1/4 cup ammonia. Let them set overnight and the next day most will just slip off the rest I use a kitchen srubby on. (plastic made like a brillo pad) Takes no time and works great. I have to scrub a little where I have previously scraped the finish off before using this trick. i'm gonna try this new trick too.
